SSPDF reunites two abducted children with parents in Juba

Two-year-old Abi Gatwich Tuach and five-year-old Simon Gattiek Tut Kai were recovered from Gumuruk Town.

The South Sudan People’s Defense Forces (SSPDF) reunited two abducted children with their parents in Juba on Thursday. The handover ceremony occurred at the army headquarters in Bilpam. The children, Abi Gatwich Tuach, aged two, and Simon Gattiek Tut Kai, aged five, were recovered from Gumuruk Town in the Greater Pibor Administrative Area (GPAA).

SSPDF spokesperson Major General Lul Ruai Koang stated Abi was abducted on December 5, 2025, from Suk Darfur, and Simon on June 13, 2026, from Suk Arnab in Juba. He identified Juma Logocho, Ayella Dominic Onono, and Angok Ayok as alleged traffickers who sold the children to Mary Amei and Thomei Agany. The operation involved SSPDF intelligence and GPAA authorities.

Gen. Ruai reported that 32 missing children have been registered, with only three recovered so far. He appealed to the public to report missing children and provide information on suspected traffickers. The GPAA authorities were urged to intensify efforts to arrest remaining suspects and find other abducted children.
