Chad ministry bans justice movement march

The Ministry of Public Security prohibited the Mouvement national pour la justice march scheduled for October 31, 2026.

Chad's Ministry of Public Security formally banned a peaceful march planned by the Mouvement national pour la justice (MNJ) for October 31, 2026, citing risks of unrest. The order, signed by Minister General Ali Ahmat Aghabache on October 30, 2026, applies nationwide. The ministry warned that organizers face prosecution for offenses like vandalism or breaking and entering if the ban is ignored.

The implementation of this ban is assigned to the Director General of National Police, the Director General of National Gendarmerie, the Commander of the National and Nomadic Guard, and the Delegate General of the Government for the commune of N'Djamena. The MNJ had planned the march across the entire national territory.

The government's decision was made due to the MNJ's alleged failure to respect legal provisions for organizing public gatherings. The ministry's arrêté specifically mentioned potential infractions such as property damage and unauthorized entry.
