N'Djaména mayors meet on local taxes

A new framework aims to improve coordination and resource sharing among the capital's 10 districts.

Mayors from N'Djaména's 10 districts met on October 30 to implement a new framework for local governance. Central Mayor Senoussi Hassana Abdoulaye led the discussion on practical steps for the newly signed Charter for Local Communal Dialogue and Consultation.

The meeting focused on operationalizing a joint order from September 30, 2026, which establishes a mixed commission for collecting property and housing taxes across the capital. This commission will oversee tax collection and taxpayer awareness efforts.

The new framework is designed to foster institutional dialogue, share experiences, and harmonize public policies between the city and its districts. The goal is to improve coordination, avoid overlapping actions, and find joint solutions for common challenges affecting the capital's residents.

Why it mattersResidents of N'Djaména will be affected by new tax collection methods and coordinated public services.
