The Council of Ministers met on Friday, November 6, to address the island's vulnerability to extreme weather events and the increasing threat of floods across the country.

Three experts from the Ambassador's Water Expert Program will be in Mauritius from November 8 to November 23, 2026. They will conduct intensive work sessions and technical workshops with stakeholders. A two-day workshop on November 19 and 20 will finalize a roadmap for enhancing the nation's flood resilience.

The current plan, which assesses hydrological and hydraulic risks, maps flood dangers, and evaluates drainage infrastructure, requires an update due to rapidly changing weather patterns and new environmental challenges.
